Dressing Up your Outdoor Space

How To / July 28,2013

Transforming an outdoor space into an outdoor room can be as simple as putting up a gazebo. Homemaker stores sell pop-up versions in timber, canvas or sometimes in fancy filigree. Some even come with curtains. If you lack room for a gazebo, it is easy to dress up a corner with table and chairs, lanterns, some bunting and potted colour. Cordon it off with willow panels, or mark your room out with a painted feature wall.

In the UK, Marks and Spencer sell a big range of outdoor dining sets from classic to contemporary. Britain's B&Q and Tesco also sell some inexpensive suites. An even simpler way to freshen your outdoor space is to add some bright cushions. Sticking to a theme keeps your room cohesive. Try a seaside or Moroccan look for inner-city locales, or bright florals in a country garden. To keep you comfortable when outside on a summer's night, ward off bugs of all kinds with citronella candles.
